Charles Spindler is a painter, drawer, photographer, writer and cabinet maker.
In 1882 he gets a scholarship and goes to study in Düsseldorf, Munich and Berlin until 1888.
After 1893 he re-discovers the cabinet makers’ techniques. He uses this craft to a new level, making real scenes and true works of art instead of simple decorative elements.
The Alsace landscape, villages and people have given him a wide inspiration. He draws or photographs scenes in the villages and later he makes his pictures using many different woods from these images.
